Microsoft
today unveiled Microsoft Expression, a suite of Web site
design and graphics software that enables .Net developers
to handle tasks similar to those that users of corresponding
software from from Adobe Systems and Macromedia have performed
for years.

A first-of-its-kind study conducted
by experts at the University of Glamorgan has proved that
men and women really are poles apart when it comes to what
catches their eye on the internet. The piece of research,
into what aesthetically appeals to males and females when
surfing the web, has found that websites which might appeal
greatly to one sex are a total no-no with the other.

Customers
and staff at a Kenilworth website design company helped raise
more than £4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Relief. Philip
Deeley, co-director of Globalgraphics Associates, completed
the London Marathon with Team Macmillan in memory of his mother
Pat who passed away two years ago.

Google's
Bourbon update has started to shake up the SERP's a bit.
Many Google-watchers are seeing double right now, trying
to make heads or tails as to what the new algorithm update
means. For a while the Google Toolbar was grayed out for
all websites, leading some to believe that their sites had
been banned by Google. According to GoogleGuy, the update
should be finished in a week or so.

Google
has just filed for a patent with the United States Patent
and Trademark office outlining the use of historical website
data in order to rank websites. This patent gives credance
to the existance of a Google Sandbox since the Sandbox theorists
also believe that historical data is and was being used
to rank websites. This is the first public acknowledgement
of the use of historical data.

Adobe is set to
buy Macromedia for a cool $3.4 billion. At this point, the
future for Macromedia applications such as DreamWeaver and
Freehand are unclear. The move is expected to help Adobe
continue to dominate the graphics application field and
now the web media application field as well.
